The Borg Collective has nothing on modern social media tools. The ways in which we can connect with each other and build something that is greater than the sum of its parts continue to grow astronomically. Some social media tools that you might encounter through your class work include:
In this module, we've focused on your use of social media content from the wider web. You may also be asked to use social media to facilitate class work. Your faculty may use features through eSpire such as a discussion board to build class content. There may be group work areas set up so that your professor can follow a group project.
Be careful in how you use social media within the college but outside of class to do your academic work. Your instructors and professors expect you to do your work on your own unless they've explicitly stated otherwise. Consulting with others on a problem set, resources for a paper, etc, may seem innocuous to you, but it can be considered cheating. Take advantage of the help available throughout the college first (library staff, Academic Resource Center, peer tutoring, your professors) or simply ask your professor if how you are thinking of connecting with other classmates is OK or not.
