In this module we're going to discuss:

In emergency situations, your primary responsibility is to keep yourself safe.

Call appropriate emergency services when you are able. These numbers should be programmed into your cell phone so you don't have to try to look up or remember the number in emergency situations.

Leavenworth Police, Fire, and Ambulance: 911

USM Campus Security: 913-683-5201

This guide isn't designed to be comprehensive, so please ask your supervisor any further questions you may have about possible situations on campus.

This training module will prepare you to start working for the university, but it's just the beginning. You can complete more difficult or specialized training to gain new skills and maximize your experience.

Talking to the Media

In the event of an emergency situation on campus, direct all media inquiries to the authorized spokespersons for the university through USM's Marketing Office at 913-758-6329

University personnel are not to speak to outsiders, especially the media, on behalf of the university.
