Curating an Active Learning Ecosystem: A Model: Pedagogy

USM's Active Learning Pedagogy

USM instructors facilitate the creation of a student learner centered environment through creative active learning curriculum strategies that increase student and social learning, developing 21st century skills such as collaboration, critical thinking, self-direction, creativity, and accountability. Our pedagogy is centered on continuous instructor to student engagement, peer to peer learning opportunities, metaliteracy, and multiple teaching modes designed to meet visual, auditory, and kinesthetic student learning styles. Instructors use innovative, flexible, and interactive spaces and instructional technology tools to facilitate active learning and wisdom formation and espouse a culture of assessment.
