Guide to the Leavenworth Community

The first Saturday of every month, we host the community Samaritan’s Buffet meal. Our church usually provides over 500 meals to hungry people around the community. Find out more by contacting the church office: office@fumclvks.org or (913)682-5374.

St. Paul's has joined several other churches in serving a free community meal on the 2nd Saturday of each month. The church often serves more than 300 meals to community members. We serve free hot meals with carryout options from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. You do not have to be a member of the church, and all are welcome! Served at 209 N 7th Street - facing 7th Street.

On the 2nd Thursday of each month St. Francis de Sales provides a meal at Trinity United Methodist Church at 321 N. 6th St. in Leavenworth, Kansas.

The United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as the Food Stamp Program, provides qualifying low-income households with food benefits, access to a healthy diet and education on food preparation and nutrition. In Kansas, the program is known as the Food Assistance Program.

We value the dignity of those we serve, offering a self-shopping food pantry. Every 30 days, shoppers may pick items appropriate for their families’ dietary and cultural needs, choosing from a variety of high-quality, perishable and non-perishable foods including fresh fruits and vegetables. Every day, we offer bread to anyone who comes into our FSC in need of food. We also carry a limited selection of personal care items in our pantry including shampoo, soap, toothpaste, toilet paper, diapers, deodorant and laundry detergent.
