Find Books: Desktop or Laptop Computers

A guide to finding books in our print and ebook collections.

Browser Settings

If you can only see the first page of an eBook open in Adobe Reader, or a new PDF is opened each time you turn an eBook page, this is probably due to a setting in Adobe Reader (or your PDF reader.) To correct this, you should change your setting to open PDFs within your web browser's window. Follow these step-by-step instructions.

Downloading Basics

Up to 60 pages of an EBSCO eBook can be printed or saved per user as a PDF file from within the eBook Full Text viewer.  See EBSCO's step-by-step instructions on printing and saving sections of an ebook.   Follow device-specific instructions on the right to download entire ebooks.

Downloading on Desktop or Laptop Computers

These first four steps are required for all first time desktop users.  These initial steps need to be completed only once.

  1. Set up a My EBSCOhost account (click on "Sign in" at the top of any EBSCOhost page).
  2. Set up an Adobe ID.
  3. Install Adobe® Digital Editions 1.7.1 or higher.
  4. Enter Adobe ID information into Adobe Digital Editions.

Now you are ready to download ebooks to your desktop or laptop.

  1. Find an ebook in EBSCOhost eBook Collection.
  2. Click on "Sign in" at the top of page and log into My EBSCOhost.
  3. Click on "Download This eBook (Offline)" or "Download (Offline)" button.
  4. Choose your checkout period (up to 7 days).
  5. Then click on "Checkout & Download" button.
