Find Books: eBooks Support

Downloading on Desktop or Laptop Computers

These first four steps are required for all first time desktop users.  These initial steps need to be completed only once.

  1. Set up a My EBSCOhost account (click on "Sign in" at the top of any EBSCOhost page). 
  2. Set up an Adobe ID.
  3. Install Adobe® Digital Editions 1.7.1 or higher.
  4. Enter Adobe ID information into Adobe Digital Editions.

Now you are ready to download ebooks to your desktop or laptop.

  1. Find an ebook in EBSCOhost eBook Collection.
  2. Click on "Sign in" at the top of page and log into My EBSCOhost.
  3. Click on "Download This eBook (Offline)" or "Download (Offline)" button.
  4. Choose your checkout period (up to 7 days).
  5. Then click on "Checkout & Download" button.

Downloading EBSCOhost eBooks to iOS or Android Devices

1. Create an Adobe Online ID.

2. Download the Bluefire Reader app to your iPad/iPhone via the App Store or if using Android, from Google Play.

3. Open the Bluefire Reader app on your device and authorize it by entering the Adobe Online ID you created in step 1 (you should be prompted to authorize automatically once you open the Bluefire app).

4. From your device, find an eBook in the EBSCO eBook collection that you want to download. You will click on theDownload this eBook (Offline) link 

5. It will prompt you to either Sign In to My EBSCOhost or Create a new Account.  This is not connected with your St. Mary account. If you have not set up a MyEBSCOhost account yet, Create a new Account now. 

6. Click on Checkout & Download button.

7. A new screen will pop up with the Bluefire Reader logo. Click on the Open in "Bluefire" button. This will automatically begin downloading the eBook into the Bluefire Reader app. This may take a few minutes.

Downloading EBSCOhost eBooks to Kindle Fire

1. Create an Adobe Online ID.

2. Download the Bluefire Reader app for iOS or Droid devices and Kindle Fires. Here are directions for getting the Droid based Bluefire Reader on Kindle Fire (open this in Web browser on Kindle Fire: http://www.bluefirereader.com/blog/?p=158)

3. From your Kindle Fire web browser, find an eBook in the EBSCO eBook collection that you want to download. You will click on the Download this eBook (Offline) link.

4. It will prompt you to either Sign In to My EBSCOhost or Create a new Account.  This is not connected with your RU account. 

   If you have not set up a MyEBSCOhost account yet, Create a new Account now.
