Library

Access

The Keleher Learning Commons is open to any individual who wishes to use materials inside the library building. Almost all materials are available on open shelves for self-retrieval. Selected materials are kept in protective storage and may not be available to all library users (Archives & Special Collections) or may be available for limited use (Course Reserves). The Keleher Learning Commons prohibits activities that create a hostile, intimidating, or offensive environment.

Circulation

The University of Saint Mary ID Card serves as the library card for all students, faculty, and staff.

  • Regular Circulating Materials check out for the semester for students, faculty, and staff. Materials are due the Wednesday before Finals Week.
  • Course Reserves check out for 2 hours in-building use or Overnight use.
  • Interlibrary Loan material due dates are set by the lending libraries and can accrue fines for late return based on that library's policies.
  • Non-circulating materials are only available for in-building use and include:
    • Archives & Special Collections items
    • Newspapers and Magazines
    • Encyclopedias, Dictionaries, and other Reference Works

Confidentiality

The Library protects the rights of its borrowers under Kansas Statute 45-221f and will not release any information regarding "library patron and circulation records which pertain to identifiable individuals". Also see the American Library Association Policy on the confidentiality of library records.

Lost or Damaged Materials

The Keleher Learning Commons does not charge late fines, but lost or damaged materials will be charged to borrower accounts, along with a $20 replacement fee per item.

Interlibrary Loan materials can accrue fines for late return based on the lending library's policies.
